In 2023, I was embedded with the Household Division of the British Army. It was an eventful year, as they prepared for the Coronation and as the brutal process of training of Ukrainian troops for the frontline.
I negotiated complex access agreements from pre-production through to the edit. Casting, and earning the trust of soldiers across the hierarchy.
I followed the Grenadier Guards as they were assessed for operational readiness in Kenya. Filming in a tough environment while trying to keep up with 19 year old squaddies was a test of physical and mental agility.
